Turning off the Screen
If you set the screen to brigthness := 0 - this does not presumably turn off the screen (or does it?)
Is there a way to turn off the screen ? [And then have it wake up on a button/screen press]
screen.brightness = 0will completely turn off the backlight, so the screen won't be emitting any light, but the pixels are still working despite the fact that you might not be able to see them!
This would be a great feature: have a kind of screensaver, which could be configured to turn off the screen after inactivity, and as soon as you touch the screen or push any buttons, it would wake up the screen !
In the meantime, @GeoffOs, you could use the new
/etc/tbbuttonsd.confand configure two new combos, the 1st one to turn off the screen by calling a tingbotapp with only
screen.brightness = 0and the 2nd one to turn on the screen by calling a tingbotapp with only
screen.brightness = 100.
